  • "From practice - effectively relieving the clinical routine through digitization" was the motto of the open days at Fraunhofer-inHaus-Center. In a completely new format the unique living labs of the inHaus were opened for visitors and lectures were offered on 17th and 18th October 2018. Partners, users, producers, engineers and developers also came together to exchange ideas.

  • A fridge that orders food automatically, a mirror that forecasts the weather, or an app that can be used to open the front door while sitting on the couch – those are just a few things in the Fraunhofer inHaus-Center in Duisburg that four senior citizens had to get used to. The public broadcaster ZDF worked with them for the eight days of shooting – now the exciting experiment can be seen on TV.

    Glow, speak, vibrate – the interactive therapy ball “ichó” of the Duisburger startup ichó-systems is able to do all of this and even more – and while doing this it helps people suffering from dementia. Now, this young business is the first startup-partner of the FraunhoferinHaus- Center in Duisburg. The cooperation is a gain for everyone involved.

  • Improving supply quality, relieving hospital staff and using subsidies more efficiently – those are the common goals of Helios university hospital Wuppertal and the Fraunhofer-inHaus-Center in Duisburg. In Realraum Innovations Labor both will be jointly working on solutions for better medical care. Also they support the interaction between science, society and economy as well as small and medium-sized enterprises. This project is just the starting point for further joint activities – and more partners can contribute to Realraum Innovations Labor in the future.

  • Project SILVERlighting examines the influence of light

    The factor light plays a critical role in well-being – important processes in the body are influenced subconsciously [1]. Using a light cycle (circadian light) that is adapted to the time of day and night, the inner restlessness of dementia patients is supposed to be reduced. In this way they are supposed to find a stabilized sleep-wake cycle. Fraunhofer UMSICHT is researching this property of light in practice with other partners within the scope of the project SILVERlighting.
